So, I have decided to take up knitting again! A few years ago (yes, that long ago) we visited a cute yarn shop on Bainbridge Island off the coast of Seattle, WA. I bought yarn and patterns for 2 projects, intending to make them right away and give them as presents. HA!!! That didn't happen!! Fast forward to today…I decided to start.
First step, where are my knitting needles? Where is my knitting bag? Where exactly did I put said yarn and patterns? Those items finally found, it was time to take the skeins of beautiful brown hand spun linen yarn and turn them into balls.
Beautiful, right? It quickly turns into this….
OH…MY….GOD!!!!
As I untangle the mess of what has become of my beautiful linen yarn, I started to go into zen mode. I started thinking that our lives are a lot like this skein of yarn. It starts out beautiful and simple, then something happens. It could be a break-up, a horrible diagnosis like cancer or addiction, or even loss of a job or loved one. Our lives become a tangled mess and we just don't know how to get it untangled. Then, I realized, with patience and perseverance we will come out in the end with an organized mess that we will then turn into something beautiful.
Of course I don't have the finished project done yet because my nerves are about shot after spending nearly 3.5 hours untangling my yarn…I even have another skein to go.
So, to all my friends and family members who are suffering through the tangled mess of real life, know that I think about you everyday and hope you can turn the tangles into something beautiful.
